He was born on nine February 1911 in Nadiad, Gujarat. He was a professional. He joined Indian independence movement in 1930 once he was in a very faculty. He visited jail seven times, till 1942.
He was a cupboard minister in city-state from 1952 to 1957. When the formation of Gujarat, he was nonappointive to Gujarat legislature in 1967 and command many ministerial posts.
In 1974, Chimanbhai Patel resigned from the post of Chief Minister because of Nav Nirman movement and assembly was dissolved. Later once the election was a command, he became the Chief Minister of the primary non-Congress government of Gujarat on eighteen Gregorian calendar months 1975.
